It reads each day's naval-hydrodynamics, weather, ship-performance and maritime-AI research and ranks it against interests you define yourself, in plain language, entirely on the device. No language model on the phone; nothing you write leaves it.
Your daily digest
Each night SciMar fetches new papers from arXiv and OpenAlex, embeds every one on the device, and scores it against your interest statements. You wake to a capped digest, the few papers worth your time, each tagged by lane and shown with the interest it matched and how closely.
Make it yours
Write your interests in plain language, one line each, and SciMar ranks against them. Save several as profiles (one for naval architecture, one for weather routing) and switch in a tap, or start from a maritime preset.
Ask a paper
Import any PDF and ask a question in plain language. SciMar embeds it on the device and returns the exact passage, found, never generated, so a factual question lands on the line that answers it, not a wall of text.
Then read the whole paper in the built-in viewer: crisp, on-device, and free of the ads and trackers of a general PDF app.

Fully offline
After a one-time model download, the digest, ranking, search and reader all run on the device, so SciMar keeps working at sea, with the signal off.

From any paper, an on-device citation snowball surfaces its closest neighbours, so a promising result opens a reading trail rather than a dead end.
Private by design
No account, no telemetry, no server. Only public, keyless sources (arXiv, OpenAlex) are ever queried; your interests and ratings stay on the device.
Always current
New versions are delivered here directly, a tap installs the latest, keeping your licence, settings and downloaded model. No app store required.
How your data is handled
All ranking, embedding and PDF search run on the device, there is no language model anywhere, no server doing the work, and no contact with any SL-Mar machine. Your interests, ratings, saved papers and imported PDFs never leave the phone.
SciMar reaches the internet only to fetch public data: the embedding model once (from Hugging Face), the day's papers and citations (arXiv and OpenAlex, public and keyless), open-access PDFs, and app updates. None of these carry anything about you. After the one-time model download, the digest, ranking, search and reader work offline.
