For a chosen trade or route, I quantify optimal routing, fuel and weather exposure across the seasons, computed on ERA5 reanalysis and calibrated to your vessel in WindMar. Objective climatology and routing analysis: it studies the trade, not anyone's voyage.

I replay a completed voyage in ERA5 reanalysis, the weather that actually occurred, to show the routing envelope the conditions allowed and what optimisation would have added. A hindcast study on the record, not a critique of the passage.

  • The real weather along the track, reconstructed from reanalysis.
  • The optimisation envelope available in that weather, attributable to conditions and tooling, not seamanship.
